Ask us the hard ones first
The five questions operators are usually afraid to ask a recruiter, answered in one line each. Then everything else.
“Is the 86% real, or is it 86% of something smaller?”
86% of linehaul plus fuel surcharge, computed from the rate confirmation you saw before you accepted. Accessorials come to you at 100%.
Every money answer ↓“Do I get my escrow back?”
$250 a week for ten weeks, capped at $2,500, returned within 45 days of leaving with a written accounting. Same terms in the lease, per 49 CFR 376.12(k).
Escrow, in full →“Will you ever ask me for money?”
Never. No orientation fee, no recruiting fee, no deposit, no lease-purchase. Escrow comes out of settlements, not your pocket, and comes back.
Leaving, and red flags ↓“What happens when I turn down a load?”
Nothing. No forced dispatch, no penalty, no quiet punishment on the next offer. The next load is the next load.
Freight and home time ↓“How do I know you will still be here next year?”
Own authority since July 2021, 25 tractors leased on, three million miles last year, liability and cargo filed with FMCSA. Check us on FMCSA before you call — we would.

What percentage does Mondo Motion pay owner-operators?
86% of the gross revenue on every load; Mondo Motion keeps 14%. Gross means the linehaul and the fuel surcharge together. Settlements are paid every Friday by direct deposit, or the same day your POD is in if you take the 5% quick pay.
Is the 86% based on linehaul only, or the whole invoice?
86% of the gross shown on the rate confirmation — linehaul and fuel surcharge together — and you see that rate confirmation before you accept the load, so the number you are paid on is the number you saw. Accessorials are not split at all: detention, layover, TONU, stop-off pay and lumper reimbursement come to you at 100%.
Do you show the rate confirmation?
Yes, before every load. An owner-operator paid a percentage is entitled to the rated freight bill under 49 CFR 376.12(g); we send it up front instead of waiting to be asked.
What are the weekly deductions?
Cargo and liability insurance $350, trailer rental $200 (optional), admin fee $100 — $650 a week. Escrow adds $250 a week for the first 10 weeks only, capped at $2,500. Nothing else is deducted.
Do I have to rent your trailer?
No. If you have your own 53-foot dry van, run it and the $200 disappears from your settlement. Renting ours includes maintenance.
How does the escrow work and when do I get it back?
$250 a week for the first 10 weeks, to a $2,500 maximum, then it stops. It covers chargebacks and claims on your own account only, it is accounted for on your settlements, and the balance is returned within 45 days of termination with a final accounting.
When do I get paid?
Every Friday by direct deposit, on paperwork received. If you want it sooner, quick pay settles the same day your POD is in for a 5% fee — your choice, load by load. Either way your settlement is not contingent on the broker paying us.
Can I get an advance on a load?
Yes. Once a load is booked you can draw up to 40% of it as a cash or fuel advance for a flat $15–25 fee. The advance comes off that load's settlement.
Is there a fuel card?
Yes. The card is accepted at major truck stops nationwide, and we do not mark it up — whatever discount the network gives, you get.
Do you factor your invoices?
Yes, through Triumph. It means our cash does not depend on a broker's payment terms, which is why your Friday settlement does not either.
Are there any bonuses?
Safety bonus of $100–$300 for a clean roadside inspection, and $1,000 for every owner-operator you refer who leases on and stays — $200 at 30 days, $300 at 60 and $500 at 90.
Freight and home time
Is there forced dispatch?
No. You may decline any load, and declining does not change what you are offered next.
What kind of freight and what lanes?
Dry van only, no-touch, regional and over-the-road. Tina will tell you what has actually been running out of your home state rather than showing you a map of the whole country.
How often will I be home?
On the regional program, 2,000–2,600 loaded miles a week and home weekly. On OTR, 2,800–3,400 miles a week and home every two to three weeks. Those are typical weeks, not promises — freight moves.
Can I switch between Regional and OTR?
Yes. You choose the program when you sign on and can move between them with a week's notice to dispatch. Same truck, same 86%, same deductions — only the lanes and the home time change.
Do you offer Power-Only or hook-and-drop freight?
Not any more. Mondo Motion runs dry van only — Regional and OTR — with a company trailer available at $200 a week or your own 53-foot van.
You and your business
Do I need my own authority?
No. You run under Mondo Motion's USDOT 3492316 / MC 1149814 on a written lease that complies with 49 CFR Part 376. If you already hold your own authority you can leave it inactive; you do not have to revoke it.
Do I need an LLC?
Yes. You are contracting as a business and you will be paid on a 1099, so an LLC or corporation with an EIN is required.
Am I an employee?
No. You are an independent contractor operating your own equipment. You choose which loads to accept, you may decline any load, and you may run for others.
Do I need occupational accident or bobtail coverage?
We do not require either one. Mondo Motion's liability and cargo cover you while you are under dispatch; they do not cover you bobtail on personal use, and as a contractor there is no workers' comp behind you. Most operators carry both, and we will not deduct for them.
Do you accept SAP drivers?
Case by case. Tell Tina on the first call; it is discussed during the follow-ups, not decided by a form.
Insurance and equipment
What insurance do you carry, and what do I carry?
Mondo Motion carries $1,000,000 auto liability, $250,000 motor truck cargo and $75,000 trailer interchange while you are under dispatch — that is the $350 weekly line. You carry physical damage on your own tractor. We do not require occupational accident or non-trucking liability coverage, but you are a contractor with no workers' comp behind you, so most operators carry both.
What happens if there is a cargo claim?
The claim goes against Mondo Motion's $250,000 cargo policy. Your share is capped at $2,500 per claim — which is exactly what the escrow reserve is sized for; the carrier absorbs the rest of the policy deductible.
Do you provide the ELD and PrePass?
Yes, both, at no charge. They ship to you before your first load.
Do you have a plate program?
Yes. If your tractor has no apportioned (IRP) plate, we plate it under Mondo Motion. The plate costs $2,500; we pay it up front, Ohio issues a 45-day temporary authority the same day the title and Form 2290 are accepted, and we recover it at $500 a week over five settlements. The plate stays company property and comes back to us if you leave.
Getting started
Is there a charge for orientation?
No. Orientation is online, takes about two hours, and costs you nothing — no travel and no hotel.
How long does it take to get started?
Two to three days from the first call for most operators, assuming your documents are in order and the drug test comes back clean.
Can I see the lease agreement before I apply?
Yes. Ask Tina on the first call and we will email the full lease. Read it, and have someone else read it too.
How long has Mondo Motion been operating?
Mondo Motion, LLC was formed in Ohio on September 22, 2020 and has run under its own authority, MC 1149814, since July 8, 2021 — five years and counting — with 25 owner-operator tractors leased on and about 3,000,000 miles run in 2025. USDOT 3492316; pull the FMCSA snapshot before you call us.
Leaving, and red flags
What if I want to leave?
Give 14 days' written notice (email is fine — verbal notice does not count), finish the loads on your board, return the trailer, the ELD, PrePass and the plate if you used ours, and your escrow balance is returned within 45 days with a final accounting. We would rather you tell us what went wrong first.
Do you do lease-purchase or finance trucks?
No. We do not sell trucks, finance trucks, or put you on a payment to us. You own your tractor.
Will you ever ask me for money?
No. No application fee, no orientation fee, no deposit, no recruiting fee. Anyone in trucking who asks you to pay to get hired is not hiring you.
Call and ask. That is the whole process.
Tina picks up Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Eastern. If she does not know, she says so and finds out — she does not guess with your money.
